2020 Chevrolet Corvette Makes Autotrader’s Best New Cars of 2020 Awards
The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has been selected as one of the twelve Autotrader’s best new cars of 2020. This accomplishment is a well-deserved milestone for the Corvette! While the Corvette has not changed much over the years the 2020 version comes with more updates. Specifically, you’ll find the most noticeable change in the engine moving behind the driver in a mid-engine structure.
Brian Moody said, “The idea of a mid-engine Corvette may seem foreign to many purists, but that set-up was actually part of the Corvette plan dating as far back as the 1950s. On the other hand, if your main complaint with previous Corvettes was the interior quality, the C8 fixes that and then some.”
The Autotrader’s Best New Cars Award emphasizes a varied group of 12 vehicles that is proposed to benefit an expansive set of shoppers. The vehicles are unanimously agreed upon by an editorial and data team at Autotrader. The vehicles that are considered for the award are required to be current or next model-year and must be available for purchase at the time of the announcement. In addition, the editors topped the price for consideration to be at $75,000.
“Overall, I found the car to be tremendously well-executed,” Doug said of the C8. He expressed that he thought the C7 was a bit overrated but the C8 lives up to the hype. “The C8 drives well, it’s nice inside, it’s roomy, it’s fast, it’s fun and most importantly, it’s cheap. You will never find one for $60K (base car doesn’t have any, wireless charging, heated seats, cargo netting), but even at $85K, my test car felt like a bargain compared to a lot of the exotic cars I drive,” Doug said.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is available as a convertible or a coupe and is unequivocally one of the best sports car values available on the market. This is Chevy’s first-ever production of a mid-engine Corvette that is representative of the fastest and most powerful entry-level Corvette in the history of the vehicle. This mid-engine Corvette reaches 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds and is equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. In addition, you’ll find a sleek and modern design and upgraded technology with an engine that is powered by the next-generation 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine. Overall, the 2020 Corvette has 495 horsepower and 470lb.ft of torque.
Production of the Corvette began in February 2020 at General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky.
